December, 2008; Stated Communication and Annual Meeting.

This month our Regular Stated Communication was also our Annual Meeting. After a fine Pot Luck supper, we all repaired to the Lodge room to recognise our Student of the Month for December, 2008.

Here, Ms. Megan Massey is congratulated by the Lodge and her parents for being chosen the December Student of the Month at Denmark Middle School.


Mt. Moriah Lodge #56 and eight fine members of our communities were recognised by Wor. Terry Blake for their outstanding contributions in making the 16th Masonic District Scholarship Program the wonderful success that it has been for several years...




In addition to accepting two new applications for membership to add to the application that we balloted on last month, action on an upcoming ByLaws revision and election of the Lodge Officers for the next year, (slate of Officers and a photo of the suite will soon follow) newly Initiated Entered Apprentice, Bro. George Perry was Passed to the Degree of a Fellow Craft.

2008 Scholarship Supper

Younger and older alike showed up for a classic New England Smoked Shoulder Feast so that Mt. Moriah could better afford to fund our annual Book Award Scholarships to be awarded this coming Spring.





The kitchen crew were hard at work in the steaming kitchen...


Wor. Ernie Perault prepared some of the delicious corn bread and rolls to be put on the tables...


Wor. John Pandora cuts up a giant Whoopie Pie for desert servings...


Lots of folks showed up in support and enjoyed a fine meal...


All told this supper took us more than half way toward our Scholarship goal for the year...Another supper in the spring should allow us to easily afford the three book awards that we present each year to deserving students in the three High Schools in our jurisdiction.

November, 2008 Stated Communication

Our Student of the Month for November, 2008, did not show up for the evening so we went directly to work and duly initiated Bro. George Perry to the Degree of an Entered Apprentice. We also held our business meeting in a Lodge of Entered Apprentices for this month so that the newly passed Brother could see his new lodge in action.

A Fellowcraft Degree for our new Bro. Perry is scheduled for our Annual Meeting on the 17th of December with a 6:30 PM supper as usual.

Upon returning to a Lodge of Master Masons, new Petitions were read and balloted upon and the Lodge closed in Peace and Harmony.

October, 2008 Stated Communication

After several months of Darkness for the summer, Mt. Moriah Lodge held our Regularly Scheduled Communication for the month of October on the 15th of October, 2008.

Wor. David Eaton Awarded Ms. Tori Mailman our Student of the Month Award for October, 2008 as her family proudly looks on in congratulations.


June 2008 Stated Communication

Mt. Moriah met for the final time before going Dark for the summer on the 18th of June, 2008.

Wor. David Eaton presented Liam LaMountain with our Student of the Month award for the month of June as Liam's father Jason looks on...


Mr. Charles Miller, Principal of Denmark Elementary, presented his own Award of Appreciation (and a very nice TShirt) to Wor. Terry Blake for his being instrumental in getting the Student of the Month program off the ground and running so well...


The Lodge awarded some past due Masonic Diplomas recently received from Grand Lodge to some of our Brothers who have been raised in the past few years...


Rt. Wor. Brian Levasseur and Wor. David Eaton awarded Wor. Stanley Tyner with a medal and lapel pin in recognition of his 50 years of membership and service as a Master Mason...


The lodge closed thereafter for the summer in Peace and Harmony.

May 2008 Stated Communication

It was a busy meeting this month for Mt. Moriah. We awarded a Student of the Month Certificate, Three Book Award Scholarships for local college bound students, a 60th year Membership Pin and raised a Brother to the Sublime Degree of a Master Mason for our Annual Inspection by newly appointed District Deputy Grand Master for the 16th District Right Wor. Brian A. Levasseur! We had a lot of visiting brothers, a fine pot luck meal and a wonderful night.

Here Wor. David Eaton presented Ms. Kylie Morel with Mt. Moriah's Student of the Month Award for May, 2008. She received the award here as her mom looks on with pride.


Book Award Scholarships were awarded to Mr. Alexander Crawford, Mr. John Gaylord and Ms. Erin Tweedie all of whom are bound for college in the Fall. Here the students are with their families and Wor. David Eaton.


Here Rt. Wor. Brian A. Levasseur looks on from the East as Wor. David Eaton awards Wor. Ed Grove with a bronze star in recognition of his 60 years as a Master Mason. Rt. Wor. Levasseur also congratulated Wor. Grove for his many years of service to The Craft.


Bro. Matt Hatch signs the ByLaws of Mt. Moriah Lodge #56 as our most recently raised Master Mason as many worthy fellows and brethren have done before him.

2008 Annual Firefighter's Appreciation Dinner

Every year Mt. Moriah Lodge holds an appreciation Dinner for the Volunteer Firefighters and their families of the Denmark, Brownfield and Ea. Hiram Departments which operate in our Lodge's jurisdiction. This year was well attend with nearly 40 people fed a wonderful Turkey dinner with all the 'fixins'.

April 2008 Stated Communication

Our Student of the Month didn't show up for the meeting so we weren't able to award the Gift Certificate or Certificate of Recognition this month, but we did have a full house of member and visiting brothers to witness Bro. Matt Hatch be passed to the Degree of a Fellow Craft. As mentioned in the previous post, we had a wonderful bean supper and plenty of food for all.



Delta Lodge of Lovell visited our Lodge in such great numbers for the evening that they were awarded the Traveling Gavel for the district. (which we had acquired the week previous.)

Bean Supper - 12APR08

Mt. Moriah Lodge held a bean supper on the 12th of April in order to help raise funding for our upcoming annual Book Scholarship Awards. We fed a lot of happy folks and raised nearly $500. (and had more than enough beans left over for supper at our stated communication and Fellow Craft Degree later in the week!)

March 2008 Stated Communication

Mt. Moriah enjoyed a superb meal Roast Beef meal prepared by Chef Christof Rugg (The Chef is also a Brother and Senior Deacon of Oriental Lodge in Bridgton.) The meal was served by young ladies from the Rainbow Assembly #42 which meets at Oriental Lodge. Ms. Chelsea Bartlett, Worthy Advisor and Ms. Sylvia Talbott, Charity, both Juniors at LRHS made sure that all of the hungry folks at the supper were well fed and cared for. The girls were assisted in their duties by Ms. Deborah Larson, Mother Advisor and Ms. Bertha Bucknell, Grand District Deputy of the Rainbow Girls 4th District. With their cheerful service and the lodges donation of the proceeds, we raised $340 for the Rainbow Chapter this evening!


Wor. David Eaton, thanks the young ladies for their assistance and congratulates them on their fund raising for the evening.

After our meal, the Lodge presented our Student of the Month Awards for February and March, 2008.

We then proceeded to the work of the evening and presented the Master Mason Degree for Bro. Steve Robinson in an almost flawless presentation of the work with standing room only in the lodge room!

Bro. Robinson signs the ByLaws of Mt. Moriah Lodge officially recording his Membership as a Master Mason.

Finally, we held our Business meeting and Wor. David Eaton announced that Mt. Moriah Lodge was for the second time awarded for the Best Overall work at the 16th Masonic District 2nd Annual Ritual Challenge held at Oriental Lodge on the 13th of March!

From the Wor. Master

The Rainbow Girls from Bridgton will be preparing a fine Roast Beef dinner for the lodge at our Regularly Stated Communication on March 19th. The cost will $10.00 each with all of the proceeds going to the girls, and we will be presenting the Master Mason degree for Bro. Steve Robinson that same evening. All Master Masons in good standing are invited to attend what should be a fantastic evening of fellowship (and excellent food.)

February 2008 Stated Communication

Having exemplified his lesson from the previous degree very well, Bro. Steve Robinson was passed to the Second Degree of Masonry at Mt. Moriah's Regularly Stated Communication on the evening of the 20th of February, 2008.

Wor. David Eaton presented Wor. Terry Blake with his Past Master's Apron in due form and with much joy...


...and the lodge received notice from the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of NH that our friend and Bro. Rick Melanson was a Mason in good standing, whereupon a ballot was held, he was unanimously received and in signing our bylaws became the newest member of Mt. Moriah Lodge (and was promptly installed as our Sr. Steward for the year!)


Due to February Vacation in the Schools this week, our February Student of the Month will be awarded at our March Regular Stated Communication.

It was voted that we will hold a Special Communication on Wednesday the 27th of February to present the Fellow Craft Degree to Bro. Matt Hatch who was unable to attend our Regular Stated due to family illness. The Degree will begin at 6:30pm with refreshments following the work of the evening.

January 2008 Communication

On the 16th of January, 2008, Mt. Moriah Lodge presented Ms. Amanda Gillette our Student of the Month award for January 2008. Here Wor. Dave Eaton presents the Certificate and Gift Certificate to Bridgton Books to Ms. Gillette as her sister Catie and mother Christine Gillette look on.


The same evening our Lodge also worked the Entered Apprentice Degree for newly admitted Brothers Bro. Steve Robinson and Bro. Matt Hatch.
